Pay for A Traffic Citation

Certain citations can be paid before your court date. Payments can be made by mail, in person, or online. Municipal Court does not accept personal checks; payments can be made by money order, certified check, cash, credit card, or online at www.ezcourtpay.com.

PAY BY MAIL: Send a certified check or money order, payable to the City of Dahlonega. Please reference your Citation number on your form of payment.

Note: Checks mailed directly to the court must be received prior to your court date. Failure to comply will result in your license being suspended or a warrant issued for your arrest.

PAY IN PERSON: Payments are accepted at the Clerk’s Office, located at 465 Riley Road, Dahlonega GA, 30533. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm, closed holidays. Payment can be accepted by cash, money order, or credit card. A $3 processing applies to all credit card payments. We are unable to accept Discover or American Express.

PAY ONLINE: To pay your citation by CREDIT or DEBIT CARD you may go online at www.ezcourtpay.com or call toll-free 1-800-262-0128. Please use the toll-free number when calling to determine your fine amount. Please wait at least 7 to 10 business days after your citation was issued to receive the fine amount or attempting to pay. When you are paying online you must enter in a T000 before your citation number.

If you would like to come into court and contest the citation you may do so on the arraignment date listed on the front of the citation, your first appearance is only the arraignment date, and you will be rescheduled to a later date for a trial.

If you are charged with a state misdemeanor violation, you have a right to a jury trial. If you want a trial by jury, your case will be transferred from the Dahlonega Municipal court to the Lumpkin County Superior Court; if you request your case to be transferred you will need to be in contact with the Lumpkin County Superior Court Office for further court date and other information pertaining to your case.

You have a right to counsel in connection with your charge(s) in Municipal Court. The Enotah Judicial Circuit Public Defender Office represents persons who cannot afford an attorney. However, the Public Defender Offices provides representation only for persons whose income falls below a certain level. If you believe you would qualify for representation by the Public Defender, you must go to the office of the Clerk, located at 465 Riley Road, to fill out your application and be interviewed. You will have to pay a $50.00 application fee to the Office of the Clerk. If you have not had an opportunity to hire a lawyer before your court date or you did not qualify for the public defender, you must come to court on your court date and ask the Judge for more time to hire a lawyer.

  • Driving Under the Influence
  • Driving While Unlicensed, Suspended, Revoked, etc.
  • No Insurance
  • Hit and Run
  • Speeding in Excess of 36 MPH
  • Reckless Driving
  • Theft by Shoplifting
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Underage Possession
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Pedestrian Under the Influence

Municipal Court

The Dahlonega Municipal Court is located within Dahlonega City Hall. Court is held at City Hall. The Municipal Court handles various types of cases pertaining to misdemeanor traffic violations, misdemeanor criminal cases that occur within the City limits of Dahlonega, the court also hears all City ordinance violations.
