Contractors will be performing crosswalk improvements on West Main Street at Sunset Dr. and Walker Dr. beginning September 30, 2024.  A portion of the street will be closed.  Please avoid the area and use alternate routes.

City Manager

The city council appoints a city manager based on his or her executive and administrative qualifications who supervises and coordinates all departments of the city and implements the policy decisions of the city council in all departments. Leadership is provided by planning, facilitating and supervising the programs and services of the city. Responsibilities also include making recommendations to the city council related to the affairs of the city, preparing reports to the city council in respect to the operations of city departments or programs, ensuring that all laws, provisions of the city charter are faithfully executed.

Allison Martin is a native of Dahlonega/Lumpkin County.  After graduating from Lumpkin County High School in 1994, she attended North Georgia College (now UNG) graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration 1997.  She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration from CSU.  

After a brief stint in the private sector, she transitioned to the public sector in 1998 by accepting a job with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.  After three years with the Sheriff’s Office, she transferred to Forsyth County Water to serve as Controller.  

In 2005, Allison had the opportunity to come home and serve the citizens of Lumpkin County as budget and grants analyst for the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners.  During her sixteen-year career with Lumpkin County she also served as Director of Finance and Administrative Services and Special Projects Director.  In 2021, she joined the staff at the City of Dahlonega as Director of Finance and Administrative Services. Allison was named City Manager in 2023.  

Allison holds a master certificate in High Performance Leadership from the NACo Professional Development Academy along with several other professional management and leadership certificates.  

Allison served as treasurer and president of the Dahlonega-Lumpkin County Jaycees and treasurer of the Lumpkin County High School Baseball Dugout Club.  Allison also serves as assistant organist for Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cumming, Georgia and coordinates outreach dinners for Wednesday night programs and Vacation Bible School.  

Allison is married to her husband of 27 years, Bradley Martin of Cumming, Georgia.  They have two sons.  Jacob, 23, who earned a degree in nursing from the University of North Georgia and Caleb, 14, who is an eighth grader at Lumpkin County Middle School.  Allison enjoys watching her sons on the baseball field, reading, and fishing.
