The City of Dahlonega will hold a Municipal General Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, from7:00 am to 7:00 pm to fill the Mayor and three Council Member seats. Those seats are currently held by Sam Norton‐Mayor, Roman Gaddis‐Post 1, Joel Cordle‐Post 2, and Mitchell Ridley‐Post 3. Those elected will serve a four‐year term beginning January 1, 2022. Anyone desiring to run for one of these offices may quality with the duly appointed Qualifying Officer at the Dahlonega City Hall, 465 Riley Road, from 8:30 to 4:30 pm, Tuesday, August 17, 2021, through Thursday, August 19, 2021. The non‐refundable qualifying fees are as follows: Mayor $270.00, Council Members $144.00.
Qualifications to run for Mayor or City council for the City of Dahlonega are as follows:
- Must be a registered and qualified City of Dahlonega Voter.
- Shall be a resident of the City of Dahlonega for one year immediately prior to the date of the election of Mayor or Council.
- Shall continue to reside in the City of Dahlonega during their term of office.
- Must meet the qualification standards required for members of the Georgia House of Representatives as are now or may in the future be prescribed by the Georgia constitution.
