2023 Municipal Election Qualifying Information

The City of Dahlonega will hold a Municipal General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm to fill three Council Member seats. Those seats are currently held by Johnny Ariemma ‐ Post 4, Lance Bagley ‐ Post 5, and Ron Larson ‐ Post 6. Those elected will serve a four‐year term beginning January 1, 2024. Anyone desiring to run for one of these offices may quality with the duly appointed Qualifying Officer at the Dahlonega City Hall, 465 Riley Road, from 8:30 to 4:30 pm, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, through Thursday, August 24, 2023. The non‐refundable qualifying fees are as follows: Council Members $144.00.

Qualifications to run for Mayor or City council for the City of Dahlonega are as follows:

  • Must be a registered and qualified City of Dahlonega Voter.
  • Shall be a resident of the City of Dahlonega for one year immediately before the date of the election of Mayor or Council.
  • They shall continue to reside in the City of Dahlonega during their term of office.
  • Must meet the qualification standards required for members of the Georgia House of Representatives as are now or may in the future be prescribed by the Georgia constitution.
