Position Announcement: Planning and Zoning Administrator
The rapidly growing historic university city of Dahlonega is the sole municipality and county seat of Lumpkin County in the northeast Georgia mountain region. We are seeking a working manager with prior planning and zoning experience, good soft skills and practical common sense approaches to support our customer service oriented team.
This important position will provide valued input through preparation of staff reports for rezonings and variances, coordination of in-house residential and contracted commercial building inspection services, updating and implementation of the comprehensive plan, development plan reviews, platting and management of the city’s on-line permitting portal. This key professional will serve as the primary staff liaison to the Planning and Historic Preservation Commissions.
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and five years related experience is required. A bachelor’s degree and prior experience in the private sector are preferred. Prior design, land development, building construction, economic development, GIS or other area of experience are also preferred. The City offers a competitive salary depending on qualifications and excellent benefits. Selection is by the City Manager, who provides administrative direction.
