NOTICE OF CALL OF SPECIAL REFERENDUM ELECTION
Notice is hereby given that the City of Dahlonega, Georgia, will hold a Special Referendum Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, for the purpose of voting on the question of whether or not the governing authority of the City of Dahlonega, Georgia, shall be authorized to issue licenses for the package sale of distilled spirits within the city limits of the City of Dahlonega. This election shall be conducted pursuant to the Georgia Election Code O.C.G.A. § 21-2-1 et seq. and the Charter of the City of Dahlonega.
The ballot will read as follows:
“[ ] YES Shall the issuance of licenses for the package sale of distilled spirits be approved?”
[ ] NO
Those desiring to vote in favor of the issuance of licenses shall vote “Yes”. Those desiring to vote against the issuance of the licenses shall vote “No”.
Only those voters registered in the City of Dahlonega elections shall be allowed to vote in the Special Referendum Election. The last day to register to vote in the November 2nd election is Monday, October 4, 2021. Android and Apple users can also download the “GA Votes” mobile app. All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the General Election may register to vote through the close of business on Monday, October 4, 2021. Advance voting will be held at the Lumpkin County Elections and Registration Office located at 56 Short Street, Dahlonega, Georgia, on the following dates and times:
- October 12, 2021, through October 15, 2021, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- October 16, 2021, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
- October 18, 2021, through October 22, 2021, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
- October 23, 2021, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
- October 25, 2021, through October 29, 2021, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
The polling place for the Referendum Special Election will be the Lumpkin County Parks and Recreation Building, 365 Riley Road, Dahlonega, Georgia 30533. The polls will be open from 7:00 o’clock a.m. to 7:00 o’clock p.m. As set forth in the American with Disabilities Act of 1992, the City of Dahlonega does not discriminate on the basis of disability and will assist citizens with special needs, as provided by law.
